Re-Balance Pilates Education

At Re-Balance Pilates we appreciate that neurologically, physiologically and habitually, the human body is asymmetrical.  It’s this inherent asymmetry, especially in regard to the diaphragm, that dictates the predictable asymmetrical movement and postural patterns seen in clients.  When these asymmetries get beyond a certain threshold of imbalance, it leads to dysfunctional breathing, movement and compensation patterns which contribute to injury & pain.

The Re-Balance Pilates courses are inspired and influenced by the Postural Restoration Institute®, and its founder, Ron Hruska. Their groundbreaking work looking at the tri-planar, asymmetrical biomechanical framework of human function driven by the respiratory and nervous system, will be introduced from a Pilates lens. We have worked together with the Postural Restoration Institute®, and have been granted permission to present introductory PRI® concepts within the Re-Balance Pilates coursework. If these courses stimulate further interest and a deeper understanding of the science of Postural Restoration® and its application, we would encourage you to explore the array of programs and courses offered by the Postural Restoration Institute®.

Re-Balance Pilates offers advanced Pilates educational workshops in person at Pilates Central Wellness and across the country. Check out the following course descriptions or go to the Re-Balance Pilates website to find more information.

Re-Balancing: Breath

Course Description

This advanced lecture and lab course is designed to help Pilates instructors, physical therapists and other rehab & movement professionals address dominant asymmetrical breathing and neuromuscular postural patterns that can lead to faulty movement, pathomechanics, and pain.  Re-balance core principles will be introduced with intense focus on zone of apposition (ZOA) breathing and how it relates to neuromuscular core control. Lab activities will allow participants to practice breathing & rib cage assessments, corrective techniques and guide exercise selection in the Pilates and rehab environment.

Re-Balancing: Asymmetrical Dynamic Posture

Course Description

This advanced lecture and lab course is designed to help Pilates instructors, physical therapists and other rehab & movement professionals address dominant asymmetrical neuromuscular postural patterns that can lead to faulty movement, pathomechanics, and pain.  Re-balance core principles will be introduced with intense focus on addressing triplanar asymmetry and how to effectively impact dynamic functional movement.  Lab activities will allow participants to practice pelvis & thorax alignment & functional movement assessments, corrective techniques and exercise progressions in the Pilates and rehab environment.

Re-Balancing: Pelvic Health
